Alamance Battleground is a North Carolina State Historic Site preserved to commemorate the 1771 Battle of Alamance, viewed by many as the first armed colonial resistance to the British Crown. Visitors can explore the restored, 40-acre battlefield, complete with a period cannon and flags marking key battle positions. Allen House, a 1780, frontier-style log home, complete with original furnishings, is also on site and open for exploration. Alamance Battleground is located five miles south of Burlington, minutes from the Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport.
